- 1 ½ cups butter (softened)
- 6 eggs
- 1 ½ tbsp vanilla
- 4 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ tbsp baking powder
- ¾ tsp salt
- 2 cups whole milk
- ½ cup butter (softened)
- 4 cups confectioner's sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2–3 tbsp milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350ºF.
- Prepare four 9-inch round cake pans with cooking spray and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together granulated sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy.
- Incorporate the eggs and vanilla, mixing well.
- Gradually add the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt, beating until combined.
- Slowly pour in the whole milk while mixing until the batter is smooth.
- Divide the batter into four bowls, adding different colors of food coloring gel to each and mixing until vibrant.
- Transfer each colored batter into the prepared cake pans evenly.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Allow to cool for 15 minutes before flipping onto parchment paper, and cool completely.
- For the frosting, beat together the softened butter and confectioner's sugar until crumbly.
- Add vanilla and 2 tablespoons of milk, mixing well.
- Adjust the consistency by adding more milk if necessary.
- Assemble the cooled cake by layering the colored cake with frosting in between each layer.
- Top the cake with a final layer of frosting and sprinkles.
Notes
Ensure that the butter is softened for easier mixing.
Adjust food coloring amounts based on the desired vibrancy of each layer.
Let the cake cool completely to prevent melting the frosting.
