Description

Enjoy the irresistible flavor of our Strawberry Cream Cheese Danish, made with creamy filling and flaky puff pastry. This easy breakfast is perfect for satisfying cravings and is a must-try for anyone who loves simple, homemade pastries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz. package cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 17.3 oz. box puff pastry dough, (2 sheets), thawed but refrigerated
  • ½ cup strawberry jam, other flavors also work
  • 1 tsp orange or lemon zest, (optional)
  • 1 tbsp milk, any type works
  • 1 tbsp turbinado sugar, or use granulated sugar
  • 1½ cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375℉ and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar together with a mixer until smooth, about 1 minute.
  3. Unfold and lay the puff pastry sheets on the baking sheet, keeping the middle section intact for filling.
  4. Cut 1-inch strips along both sides of the pastry, leaving the strips connected at the fold in the center.
  5. Divide the cream cheese filling between the pastry sheets and spread evenly in the center.
  6. Combine the strawberry jam and optional zest, then spread on top of the cream cheese filling, using about ¼ cup of jam for each.
  7. Fold the outer pastry strips over the filling in a braiding pattern, crossing each pair as you go.
  8. Brush the tops with milk using a pastry brush and sprinkle with turbinado sugar.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Cool for 15 minutes, then prepare the optional glaze by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until thick but pourable.
  11. Pour the glaze over the pastries, let it set, slice, and serve.

Notes

Feel free to experiment with different fruit preserves or jams for a unique flavor.
These pastries are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
For an added touch, sprinkle some fresh strawberries on top before serving.
