- 1/3 cup butter
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 3 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups oil
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 3 eggs
- 4 cups apples, peeled & chopped
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking pan and set it aside.
- In a small bowl, mix together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- In a large bowl, combine the oil, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, and eggs, whisking until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until fully incorporated.
- Peel and chop enough apples to make 4 cups, then fold them into the batter.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan and bake for about 50 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center.
- While the cake bakes, prepare the glaze by combining butter, brown sugar, sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Stir frequently until the mixture begins to simmer, then remove from heat and allow to cool for 5 minutes.
- Once the cake is done, pour the warm glaze over it while still warm.
Notes
For added flavor, try using a mix of different apple varieties.
This cake can be stored in an airtight container for up to four days.
Serve warm or at room temperature for the best taste.
