- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1–2 tbsp water
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tbsp apple juice
- 1/4 tsp vanilla
- 2 (16 oz) cans pillsbury grands buttermilk biscuits
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tbsp cinnamon
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 325 degrees and generously spray a Bundt pan with non-stick spray.
- Peel, core, and dice the apples, then toss them in a bowl with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice.
- Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat and add the diced apples, cooking for 8-10 minutes until tender. If needed, add water to soften the apples.
- Once cooled slightly, place half of the apples in the bottom of the prepared pan.
- Cut each biscuit into quarters.
- In a gallon Ziplock bag, combine sugar and cinnamon, then shake to mix thoroughly.
- Coat half the quartered biscuits in the cinnamon sugar mixture and distribute into the pan.
- Layer the remaining caramelized apples over the biscuit pieces in the pan.
- Coat the remaining biscuit quarters and add them to the pan.
- In a small saucepan over low heat, melt together the brown sugar and butter, stirring until well combined, then pour over the biscuits.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
- After baking, let it sit for a few minutes before inverting onto a dinner plate.
- To make the icing, whisk together powdered sugar, apple juice, and vanilla, and drizzle over the monkey bread.
Notes
For added flavor, consider using tart apples like Granny Smith.
Ensure even cooking by checking the monkey bread periodically during baking.
Let the monkey bread cool slightly before inverting for easier removal.
