Ingredients
Scale
- 6 tablespoons (84g) unsalted butter, sliced
- 1 cup (200g) packed brown sugar
- ½ cup (118ml) heavy whipping cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Once melted, add the brown sugar and heavy whipping cream, stirring until it boils.
- Let the mixture sit without stirring for 3 minutes once it reaches a full boil.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla and salt.
- Transfer the sauce to a jar and let it cool before covering.
- The sauce will thicken as it cools. If refrigerated, it will become a soft solid. To reheat, microwave for about 30 seconds, then stir and use as desired.
Notes
For a deeper flavor, consider using dark brown sugar instead of light brown sugar.
This sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks, just reheat before use.
Try adding a pinch of sea salt on top for an enhanced salty-sweet flavor.
