- 3 granny smith apples
- 2 teaspoons lemon juice
- a pinch of nutmeg
- 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 4 tablespoons brown sugar
- 12 ounces pound cake
- 8 ounces cool whip
- 6 tablespoons caramel sauce
Instructions
- Peel and chop the apples into small cubes and place them in a medium saucepan.
- Add lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar. Stir the mixture well.
- Simmer over medium heat for about 10 minutes until the apples soften and the sugar melts into a syrup. Let it cool slightly.
- Cut the pound cake into bite-sized cubes. Fill a piping bag with Cool Whip.
- Beginning the assembly: place a layer of pound cake cubes in serving glasses or jars. Spoon a layer of the apple mixture on top, followed by caramel sauce and a generous layer of Cool Whip.
- Repeat the layers: pound cake, apples, caramel, and Cool Whip, finishing with a drizzle of caramel on top. Serve immediately or refrigerate.
