Description

This Chocolate Chip Walnut Banana Bread has a delightful flavor, featuring ripe bananas, chocolate chunks, and walnuts. It’s a simple, homemade bread perfect for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 large very ripe bananas mashed
  • 1/2 cup butter (melted)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (room temperature)
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 oz semi-sweet chocolate chunks
  • 2 oz chopped walnuts
  • 2 oz white chocolate chunks or chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 10×5 loaf pan and dust it lightly with flour.
  2. Mash the ripe bananas in a large bowl until they are smooth and creamy.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, whisking until smooth.
  4. Mix the mashed bananas, sour cream, sea salt, and baking soda into the butter-sugar mixture until everything is nicely incorporated.
  5. Add the all-purpose flour and cinnamon, mixing until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the bread tender.
  6. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chunks, walnuts, and white chocolate chunks. Set aside a few to garnish if desired.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, topping with extra chocolate chunks and walnuts for a beautiful presentation.
  8. Bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs. Cool before slicing.

Notes

Make sure to use very ripe bananas for the best flavor.
You can substitute the walnuts with pecans if preferred.
Cover loosely with foil towards the end of baking if it browns too quickly.
