Description

This Chocolate Ice Cream features an irresistible flavor with a creamy texture. Made with rich dark chocolate and simple ingredients, it’s the perfect homemade dessert for chocolate lovers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1½ cups heavy cream
  • 1½ cups whole milk
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 4 oz dark chocolate, chopped
  • ½ cup hot fudge sauce

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, cocoa powder, corn syrup, and sea salt over medium heat until steaming.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the egg yolks until smooth.
  3. Place chopped chocolate in a bowl and pour a ladleful of the hot milk mixture over it to melt.
  4. Slowly add the heated milk mixture to the egg yolks while whisking continuously. Repeat until well combined, then return to saucepan and cook until slightly thickened.
  5. Stir in the melted chocolate and vanilla extract. Strain into a container to remove solids.
  6. Refrigerate the mixture for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  7. Churn the cooled custard in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  8. Transfer half of the ice cream to a container, swirl in hot fudge sauce, then add the remaining ice cream and more fudge. Freeze until firm.

Notes

For a smoother texture, consider using an ice cream maker for churning.
If desired, skip the fudge swirl for a pure chocolate ice cream experience.
Customize the optional ingredients to match your taste preference.
