- 3 large onions
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 4 ounces cream cheese (softened)
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 2 teaspoons hot sauce (optional)
Instructions
- Slice the onions in half, discard the ends and peel, then cut each half into thin strips.
- Place the onions in the crockpot, drizzle with olive oil, and season with salt and pepper. Mix well to ensure they are coated.
- Cover the crockpot and cook on low heat for 8 hours, or overnight for convenience.
- Once the onions are cooked, stir in the sour cream, softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, and hot sauce until fully combined. Adjust seasoning to taste.
- For serving, keep the dip warm in the crockpot or transfer it to a container and chill for at least 1 hour if serving cold.
Notes
For a thicker dip, you can drain excess juices from the onions before mixing in the other ingredients.
This dip can easily be prepared a day ahead and kept refrigerated until ready to serve.
