Description
This easy black bean dip is packed with flavor from black beans, fresh lime, and jalapeños. It’s quick to prepare and ideal for gatherings or a tasty snack any time!

- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 medium red onion chopped small
- 4 cloves garlic minced
- 2 jalapeño peppers seeded and chopped (or 4 oz canned diced jalapeños)
- 2 (15-ounce) cans black beans drained and rinsed
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon salt or to taste
- 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro plus more for serving

- pickled red onions optional
Instructions
- Warm olive oil in a small pan over medium heat.
- Sauté chopped red onion, garlic, and jalapeño peppers for about 5-8 minutes, stirring frequently, then remove from heat.
- In a food processor, add drained and rinsed black beans along with cooked onion, garlic, peppers, cumin, salt, lime juice, and cilantro.
- Process until smooth, leaving some chunks if preferred.
- Transfer to a serving dish, garnish with more cilantro, vegan cheese, and pickled red onions if desired.
- Serve with tortilla chips and enjoy!
Notes
Feel free to adjust the level of spiciness by adding more or fewer jalapeños.
This dip can be made ahead of time and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
For a creamier texture, blend a bit longer in the food processor.
