Description

This Easy Oreo Frosting features a delightful blend of cream cheese, whipped butter, and crushed Oreos. Perfect for frosting cakes or cupcakes with its rich and creamy texture, this recipe makes it simple to add a little indulgence to your desserts. With only a handful of ingredients and easy steps, it’s an excellent choice for homemade sweets lovers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 5 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 34 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 8 oreo chocolate sandwich cookies, crushed into fine crumbs

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, using a stand mixer or hand mixer, beat the softened butter, cream cheese, and vanilla together at medium-high speed for about 2-2½ minutes until fluffy and smooth.
  2. Reduce the speed to medium-low, and gradually add in the powdered sugar, about 1½ cups at a time. Add 1 tablespoon of heavy cream after each addition of powdered sugar, adjusting with more powdered sugar if needed for texture.
  3. Continue mixing until the frosting is smooth and creamy.
  4. Gently fold in the finely crushed Oreos, ensuring even distribution without large clumps.
  5. If not using immediately, store the frosting in the refrigerator. When ready, allow it to sit at room temperature for 20-30 minutes before re-whipping for 15-30 seconds to restore fluffiness.

Notes

Ensure to finely crush the Oreos to avoid clumping in the frosting.
Feel free to adjust the amount of heavy cream for desired frosting thickness.
If the frosting is too soft, add a little more powdered sugar.
