- 4 cups pears (peeled and thinly sliced from 5–6 pears)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup rolled oats (gluten free, if needed)
- 1/3 cup all purpose flour (gluten free, if needed)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts (optional, chopped)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a 2-quart baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
- In a large bowl, combine the pears, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread this mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
- In the same bowl, mix the oats, flour, and brown sugar. If using nuts, stir them in at this point.
- Cut the butter into the oat mixture until crumbly using a fork or your fingers.
- Sprinkle the crumb topping evenly over the pear mixture.
- Bake for 45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the pears are bubbling on the edges. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
- Serve warm, at room temperature, or chilled.
Notes
For added crunch, use a mix of pecans and walnuts.
